To the Editor:
About four weeks ago I prepaid $60 for gas at Newcastle Maritime Farms. I pumped $51 worth of gas before my tank filled. I then got in my car and drove away without collecting the $9 of change.
It took nearly a week for me to realize what I had done and another week before stopped back to ask about the $9. The store manager Jennifer asked me which day I drove away with getting my change. I told her and she said that she would look into it.
Another week passed before I stopped back into Newcastle Maritime Farms to purchase a newspaper and $20 of gas. As I walked through the door Jennifer announced, “I have your $9.” After nearly a month my change was returned to me.
This customer appreciates Jennifer’s and her staff’s attention to detail and honesty. By the way, when they returned the $9 to me they had another $20 waiting for someone who had prepaid for gas and then drove away without pumping any.
