To the Editor:
You hear a lot of talk today about the need to compromise. A good example is the debt ceiling and congress. Do we raise the debt ceiling or not or do we meet somewhere in the middle?
No matter what we do, our children are going to pay for it. The question is how much do they pay?
As a country we are borrowing money with no end in sight. There appears to be no finish line. To make matters worse we are not only borrowing money, we are borrowing it from China. We should not be borrowing money from China.
We cannot compromise on the debt ceiling with our children’s future at stake.
Yes, we have to pay our debts. No, we do not have to raise the debt ceiling to do it. Take the politics out of it and do what many governors are doing across our country today including our own Governor Paul LePage. They are balancing their budget, or should I say, “our” budget.
How many overdrafts can you afford to pay? I never want to pay any!
