We will just be completing production on this week’s edition of The Lincoln County News when the friends and family of Dustin Osier convene in the gymnasium at Medomak Middle School to celebrate his life.
Of all the losses that have rocked our area this year, Osier’s seems to hit especially hard. Maybe because he was so young, with so much promise and so much ahead of him; maybe because he was apparently the kind of person who could inspire. Maybe because, by all accounts, he had that indefinable “it” that just drew people to him, but his sudden departure at 18 leaves a crater of pain in his wake.
We were all 18 once and just launching ourselves into the world. Maybe that’s why people who never knew him talk about his passing this week like they had lost a member of their own family. Our condolences go out to his family and friends.
