To the Editor:
A great big thank you to everyone who made it possible for the wonderful time we seniors enjoyed on Saturday at the Boothbay school.
All volunteers gave their entire day to make it all possible. We received much helpful information on many subjects pertaining to our age group.
Booths were carefully set up with printed information for one to take home. There were kind people at every booth ready to answer any questions we might ask, not only to answer questions but to offer all sorts of handy “loot” that is fun, too!
Handy, useful red bags were offered containing a flashlight with batteries, a generous bottle of hand washing liquid, a metal whistle, a box of tissues, and a small First Aid kit, all thoughtful and useful items.
Flu shots were being given free to anyone who wished to have one, by a group of very pleasant volunteers. Everyone involved in the entire day was very kind and thoughtful.
The young man, Larry Caruso, who gave us all the dos and don’ts of answering the phone was outstanding. His information was very, very helpful to all of us.
To top if all off was a great luncheon of hot dogs, three or four different kinds of baked beans, pulled pork, cole slaw and for dessert, a brownie with ice cream. There was coffee and donut holes to enjoy as well.
The Holy Mackerels band played constantly to the delight of everyone.
Thank you, thank you for inviting us to the day of fun prepared by so many kind and generous people.
Free File of Life packets and 911 cell phone and adapters were there for everyone who needed one.
Oh yes, and one more thing – we were all given a lottery ticket when we registered at the door upon entering. Luckily for me my number was called and I was allowed to select a gift from the table: a nice fleece throw donated by AARP. My son’s number was also called and he selected a $20 gift certificate from Hannaford’s, donated by FairPoint.
There were many nice things donated by many organizations for the event. A big thank you to all of them.
I know I have missed some of the things that were available to senior citizens that special day, but it was all a perfectly wonderful day.
