To the Editor:
On the night of Dec. 13, 2011, our sister-in-law, Nancy Hanna was in a horrible car accident on Rt. 32 in Round Pond. We would like to thank the bystanders who helped before rescue crews arrived, the First Responders and Ambulance Crew that took her to Miles where she was sent by Life Flight to Maine Medical Center and the Maine Medical doctors and staff who have cared for her since then.
We would like to thank the Samoset Fish and Game Club, who funded a ramp for their house and Gordon Prentice and Bob Brissard who built it within days of the accident. We would like to thank our amazing community for their offers of food, gas cards, gift cards, cell phone, hospital visits, and a drier for their house.
On January 28, the community held a Benefit Dinner for Nate, Nancy and the kids at Bristol School.
Thanks to the enormous efforts of Jen Eckel, Andrea Cox, and Julia Wilson, it was a huge success! We would like to thank the volunteers who donated their time and efforts, all the local businesses for their generous contributions of food and/or gift cards for the silent auction and thanks to the countless numbers of folks who donated items and time to the silent auction.
Thanks to all of the people who spread the word and encouraged folks to come out for this event.
Special thanks to the Bristol School Staff who continue in their support of Tommy and Matthew every single day. Thank you also for providing such a great community space for the event.
Lastly, a very special thank you to every single person we may have overlooked.
Nancy’s positive attitude continues to amaze us all. She has had several surgeries with one more coming and then, hopefully, rehab. Please keep her in your thoughts and prayers. She has a long road ahead but is an inspiration to us all!
In closing, we consider ourselves unbelievably lucky to live in a small town like Bristol.
