To the editor:
When the basketball team wins a championship, it’s front-page news, and it should be. The members of the team worked long and hard to become champs and it paid off. The LCN has a part of the cover section devoted to local sports. I look forward each week to reading about all the local sports activities.
Now let’s look at the Lincoln math team. They win a championship and this news is buried on 3A of the March 16 issue. The LA one-act play championship didn’t make out quite as well, page 5A.
All I’m saying is all teams are important to the overall four-year student all-around education. These students also work long and hard to win their championships. Solving math problems under pressure is stressful and tough. Appearing on stage in front of the audience, while being judged by judges just looking for the smallest slip-up, is stressful to say the least. When a lot of what we read in news is not good, students who make the extra effort to participate in extracurricular activities should be recognized so the reader can appreciate all good things being accomplished at Lincoln Academy.
