To the Editor:
As we all celebrate this Thanksgiving and people say a prayer and are thankful for this abundance, how many include in their prayer a thanks for all our servicemen and women who can’t make it home for the holiday?
At times like this, one old veteran remembers when the only way to speak to a loved one or a family member was via the U.S. postal service. Now of course we have the Internet, which helps but I am sure is no substitute for the real thing. Yes, we did have telephone.
As I pray at our table this Thanksgiving, it is with the usual prayer: please stop wars and bring our brave men and women home unharmed and a special prayer for all those who have come home harmed not only by ammo but in so many cases by post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), one of the most awful injuries which can last a lifetime.
A Happy Thanksgiving to all but especially to our armed forces everywhere.
