To the Editor:
As exciting, exhilarating, and sometimes exasperating as the last two years have been, it is important to remember that we are fortunate to live in a country where everyone is entitled to an opinion and everyone is entitled to be heard.
We all have stories to tell about disagreeing with a friend or neighbor over the candidates and their agendas (we certainly had plenty of time to do so) and yet here we are, friendships still intact, the election finally over, the future, uncertain as it may be, ahead.
It is time to thank everyone who was willing to stand up for what they believe in. Win or lose, they put in the time required to make the rounds, shake the hands, kiss the babies, and meet the constituents who may or may not have been loaded for bear when they knocked on doors.
If it weren’t for the losers, there would be no winners. And because this is America, as well as Maine, there is always a next time.
