To the Editor:
It is with great pleasure that I announce to the Citizens of Edgecomb that our new fire station is complete and totally functioning. This project, which started construction in April, has been completed under the guidance of Chief Roy Potter and Assistant Chief Larry Omland and the Building Committee – Jim McQuaide, Sue Carlson, Mike Smith, and Ron Carey with strong support of Selectmen Jessica Chubbuck and Stuart Smith.
Our Architect, John Hansen of South Thomaston and the Penobscot Company of Rockport completed the building with our takeover in early October.
I would like to thank all those who contributed to this undertaking for their hard work and dedication to the building of the Fire Station. Lastly, I would like to extend my profound appreciation to the Citizens of Edgecomb for their strong support throughout for this project, which benefits everyone in our community.
We plan to have an open house and dedication of the building in the immediate future. Again, we should thank the Fire Department under the guidance of Chiefs Roy Potter and Larry Omland for their dedication and commitment to our community.
Edgecomb should feel great pride for the development of the new fire station and to the enhancement of public safety and protection to all its citizens. Our accomplishment of this new fire station reflects the character of Edgecomb and defines the quality of life as we want it.
Dr. Jack Sarmanian
Selectman and Chair of the Building Committee
