To the Editor:
When I saw the picture and article on the newly proposed up-date on the Damariscotta Mills Fish Ladder, my heart was crushed.
My mind went back to the old boulders where the fish would work their way up the ladder to spawn in the lake. I remember watching them a few years ago when a woman from Holland came up to me, saying they had read about it over there and it was just as described. Would anyone now see any beauty in the cement blocks?
I know my good neighbors have worked long and hard for this very expensive up-date but, to me, the old ladder Frankie Waltz grew up with, and later tended for so many years was efficient and picturesque.
