It’s Friday night and you want to go out. What should you do?
That’s the question we’re trying to answer with our new calendar for arts and entertainment in Lincoln County.
We call it “County Culture.” It debuted in the Sept. 8 edition and you can find it every week in the Arts and Entertainment or Dining Out sections of the newspaper.
“County Culture” is a day-by-day list of the movies, music, art openings, and other “arts and entertainment” happenings in Lincoln County. At the bottom you’ll find information about ongoing events, like art shows.
It’s important to note that we draw the calendar listings from information you send us.
If you own a Lincoln County restaurant with live music, or you’re a musician or artist with an upcoming show in Lincoln County, email your event or events to info@lcnme.com.
We don’t need a fancy press release with complete sentences and proper punctuation. Just give us the who, what, when, and where, and we’ll plug your event into the calendar, like this:
Friday, Sept. 23
Led Zeppelin, classic rock, The Lincoln County News, 116 Mills Road, Newcastle, 7 p.m. (Editor’s note: this is not a real event.)
Don’t have time for typing? If you’re a restaurateur, maybe you have a calendar of events on the wall at your restaurant. Just take a snapshot of the calendar with your smartphone (or ask one of your staffers to) and send it to info@lcnme.com. If you post your weekly calendar on Facebook, send us a link to your Facebook page.
For those who rely on our existing calendars, never fear: you can still find a calendar for local government and community events on page 2. We will also continue to print a monthly calendar and a weekly sports calendar.
Lincoln County boasts many talented artists and musicians and a vibrant arts and live music scene.
We hope, with “County Culture,” to draw attention and attendance to these events and to give our readers one convenient place to find their options for local entertainment.
