To the Editor:
There have been numerous articles in The Lincoln County News concerning the budget cuts at Great Salt Bay School.
One of the proposals is to cut the school nurse’s hours from full time to four hours a day. That means a non-licensed, non-medical person who already is occupied with their own daily duties, would be required to make a decision that could affect the well-being of your child.
What if your child during school hours had a head injury, asthma attack, injury to a joint or bone, was choking, had an allergic reaction, fainted, required special medication, or had a seizure. Wouldn’t it be best for all of us if these children were attended to by a nurse?
We have a vote coming up soon. I hope we all recognize the importance of a full-time school nurse as children do not get sick or injured half the time.
