To the Editor:
Have we lost the spirit of true Americanism established by our forefathers?
The patriotism you expressed during and following World War I and II, Vietnam, Korea, Desert Storm, Iraq and Afghanistan has all but disappeared. Parades are but a fleeting display of our patriotism and fife trucks. How soon we forget.
Today’s all-volunteer military service demands the honor, respect and accolades afforded returning veterans of prior conflicts.
Individually, we are allowing this great nation to literally disintegrate under the guise of “change.”
Salute the returning veteran: that young man or woman who served, who put their life on the line for your freedom.
They sacrificed part of their lives, being absent from their family. Many return home sound of body but bear wounds that surface later in life. Talk to the veteran, and provide encouragement in adjusting to civilian life.
America, get off your duff and stand tall for our returning veterans and these United States of America.
