We hate to admit it but we can see Labor Day from here.
With Labor Day comes school openings, fall foliage, Halloween and the holidays, all followed just as quickly by municipal budget meetings, town meetings and before you know it, we’ll be reporting next year’s Memorial Day activities.
Next summer is both just around the corner and a long, long time from now.
Immediately at hand we have the final stretch run of summer. August is a month so jam packed with delights it will be hard to get to them all but we recommend you try to soak in as much as you can.
This month we have Whitefield Days, Somerville Day, Jefferson Community Day, North Nobleboro Day and of course, Olde Bristol Days.
This year we celebrate the 175th anniversary of the Waldoboro Fire Department, the members of which have been planning and fundraising for this party for almost two years now.
We commend them for their dedication to the cause and their ardent fundraising efforts, intended to fund the event at no cost to the taxpayers.
We who are fortunate enough to live here know that life doesn’t stop with the end of summer, it just down-shifts slightly from extremely hectic to very hectic. This, however, is the last, best time of the summer to get out and sample the best the community has to offer while it is still in full flower. We’ll see you out and about.
