We are sad to report that Dominik Lobkowicz will work his last day at The Lincoln County News Friday, Aug. 7.
We hired Dominik three years ago, originally to cover the Wiscasset area. After a few months, he accepted an opportunity to switch desks and cover his hometown of Waldoboro and the surrounding area.
From the beginning, Dominik was an excellent addition to our organization. He is a conscientious, honest reporter. He treats subjects with respect, even – or perhaps especially – when he has to ask difficult questions, as we often do.
For Dominik, this is more than an act to procure goodwill. He is a gentleman around and outside the office as well – always polite and quick to offer assistance to his co-workers with everything from on-the-job training to car trouble or moving day.
Our industry needs more people like Dominik – people of integrity who care about the communities they cover and understand the function of community journalism as a public service.
Dominik is leaving for a leadership position with a growing company, and we wish him well. Our loss is their gain.
Also this week, we welcome Maia Zewert to the staff and the county, as she moved to Damariscotta a mere week and a half ago. A recent graduate of journalism school, Maia will primarily cover the Damariscotta region.
If you see Dominik or Maia this week, please join us in wishing them both the best of luck in their new ventures.
