To the Editor:
I learned today that Bath Savings Institute will not be hosting their (previously) annual holiday wreath auction for the benefit of Big Brother’s Big Sisters. What a travesty.
I suspect that wreath decoration by local businesses and organizations might have been onerous in some cases, but generally joyful. I personally delighted in the silent auction at the bank, purchasing as few as four or as many as seven wreaths while fighting off last minute challengers.
Though I didn’t attend, I believe the live auction at the River Grill was annually successful and a happy event. I’m sure the bank is not responsible for this unwelcome change; what happened? All for such a good cause, too. Bummer.
