To the Editor:
The letters to the editor concerning the Lincoln County Animal Shelter written by several individuals have been troubling. The public attacks directed at the shelter organization, and at the director in particular, really should stop.
I know that airing grievances in public can be an effective strategy.
I also know that it can be harmful, hurtful, and inappropriate. As for as I know, only one individual with ties to the board has spoken out. Out of how many?
The LCAS has a director who is dedicated, heart and soul, to the organization. Half-hearted compliments with one hand, while slamming her publicly with the other is just wrong, as are some of the snarky comments. Above all else, she should be treated with the respect due her.
LCAS also has a board of directors who, I assume, are thoughtful, intelligent people who are charged by their appointments to uphold the integrity and well being of said organization. If there are internal situations that need to be addressed, that is where it should be done – not in the LCN.
As what to tell the volunteers? Tell them to continue to do their so important work; walk the dogs, play with the cats, love the animals, carry on and tune out. Let the board sort through the accusations. That is their job.
To the public; please continue to support LCAS. The well being of the animals is too important for them to become victims of this controversy. I am sending my check today. Please join me.
