To the Editor:
We cannot begin to express our great appreciation for the many ways in which our families, friends, associates and community have supported us through Gil’s injury. Lincoln County Communications and 911, the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office, the Maine Warden Service, the Maine State Police, Bristol Fire and Rescue and CLC Ambulance all teamed up to care for Gil and get him to help.
Miles Memorial Hospital’s Emergency Room worked quickly and efficiently to assess the seriousness of the wound and get him to the Trauma Center at Maine Medical Center.
Throughout the ordeal of his hospital stay, family and friends provided Carol with transportation to and from Portland, took on the task of caring for our young dog, and made sure we both had the support we needed.
Offers for help around the house, dog-sitting, and cooking meals poured in. Time after time, people said “If there is anything we can do . . .” and meant it. Never fear: throughout Gil’s long recovery, we will be accepting those offers for assistance.
We have been overwhelmed by the kindness and concern we have been shown. There are no words to say “Thank you” emphatically enough. As terrible as this experience has been, it has shown us how fortunate we are to live in this community.
