To the editor:
I wish to commend the Great Salt Bay eighth grade students on their column “Investigate,” published in the Dec. 30 edition of The Lincoln County News. They wrote about immigrants’ issues, affordable housing, mental health, heating fuel costs, the importance of Bath Iron Works to Maine’s economy, and Maine’s labor shortage. They explained clearly the educational issues of the teaching and learning problems during the COVID pandemic, sports as therapy, the Phoenix Program for gifted students, and the challenging future of the changing teaching profession.
These students, their teacher Ms. Girard, and the editors deserve to be heartily congratulated for their contributions to the Dec. 30 issue of The Lincoln County News. I am very impressed by the quality of their journalistic skills. I’m convinced that there is still hope for the future of our youth.
