To the editor:
Attention Damariscotta voters!
Each one of you has the opportunity to vote on Tuesday, Nov. 7 for two local issues: the Damariscotta moratorium and for one selectman’s vacancy. What do each of you need to do? Become informed prior to entering the voting booth (or voting absentee prior to Nov. 7).
How does one learn about the Damariscotta moratorium?
1. Attend one of the two informational hearings. The first will be held on Monday, Oct. 16 at 6 p.m. Remain for the planning board meeting at 6:30 p.m. Another hearing is set for Tuesday, Oct. 17 at 5:30 p.m. Both hearings/meetings will be held at the town office meeting room.
2. Watch selectmen and planning board meetings televised on Channel 7, your local cable community access television. These can also be viewed on your computer via lctv.org and are available 24 hours a day.
3. Read and study the actual document submitted by petitioners. Copies may be obtained at the town office or from the town’s website.
A second vote on Nov. 7 is for one seat vacated on the board of selectmen due to George Parker’s change of residency. Thank you, George, for your many years as a member of our community and serving on so many town committees.
Voters: these two local issues are in your hands!
