To the Editor:
On Monday afternoon at 4:30 p.m., we drove into the Sullivan Tire lot to ask if our tires could get a puff of additional air. We were greeted by the manager and his team who very kindly set to work to locate the proper inflation information on the inside of a car door.
During the search, we inadvertently closed all doors with the car key in the ignition and the car was locked. My handbag with spare key was, yes, on the passenger floor, inside the locked car.
We called a dear and kind neighbor who went into our home garage to look for a spare car key. During all this commotion, the helpful staff at Sullivan filled our tires, replaced a broken valve cap, and, with the greatest ingenuity, snaked a wand into the car to dislodge the key and pop open the door.
Throughout this upset, the Sullivan manager told us that while they normally close at 5 p.m., he would wait to allow us to stay warm and safe until either a spare key or AAA could help us.
All of this kindness and resourcefulness was done gladly and without hesitation. We thank them all.
