Sen. Olympia Snowe is a small, frail looking woman who looks like she never gets enough sleep or enough to eat.
However, Snowe is a leader worthy of the national stage and as her historic vote on the Senate Finance Committee Oct. 13 shows, she is not afraid to take a position when she has to.
This week we commend Sen. Snowe for coming to the middle when it seems all forces are working to drive the different sides apart, because really, despite all the hype and hysteria flying around the national political stage, the majority of Americans live in the political middle.
It is currently the lunatic fringes on both sides of the aisle who are dominating debate. Sadly, that is nothing new.
We continue to have grave doubts that the Feds are going to get this one right, because we know that huge bureaucracies get in their own way but then again, allowing the private sector to run wild is also not a solution.
Doing nothing is not an option and leadership, true leadership, is about doing something.
