To the Editor:
I would like to urge people to learn about how to care for the Maine we all love. Take part in the Midcoast Steward Program.
I took the course in 2001, just 10 short years ago. It was one of the best experiences I have had and I would do it again except that I should be teaching it! I had a blast; had a great time learning about Maine natural and cultural history and listening to really interesting people. Since then I have had fun making trails, counting horseshoe crabs, collecting water, leading hikes, and more.
Anyone who likes the outdoors will enjoy this and learn how they can become part of a much needed network to nurture and defend the wild places that we enjoy. The course will be held April 19 through May 24 on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5:30 to 8 p.m., as well as a few Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. For more information call Sarah Gladu, 563-1393 or dra@draclt.org.
