To the Editor:
I am concerned about a letter I received, dated Dec. 8, ’08, from the Town of Newcastle which involved changes to the Newcastle Shoreland Zoning Ordinance.
The Newcastle Land Use Ordinance Review Committee is proposing to the town that my land and many others in Newcastle be placed in Resource Protection.
Please correct me if I am wrong, this will put the value of my land and (thought to be for retirement) to $0.00.
If the State is mandating changes, why don’t you, as a committee, put the Town first for a change, and see if it is right for our town, not just bow your heads to the state’s every word and then make up your own additional proposal to mix into it. Sounds like you (LUORC) have your own agenda.
I urge all of you that own Newcastle property to stop by the Newcastle Town Office and pick up a copy of the proposed changes.
They do have hearings scheduled for Jan. 15 and 22 at 7 p.m. in the Dining Hall at Lincoln Academy.
