To the Editor:
On March 25, the Bristol School Committee and school administrators will convene a long range planning committee forum at the 1812 Farm on the Bristol Road in Bristol with the express purpose of discussing the educational direction of Bristol School in the next decade.
With matters of the world in rapid transition, what is the best way to prepare our children for the dynamics of the coming age? Many jobs that existed 50 years ago are gone, and it appears that by 2020, there will be new jobs that are unknown to us today.
With that said, we also know that our town of Bristol has a wealth of talented and experienced individuals who are or have been leaders in industry, government, education, entrepreneurial endeavors, and owners of private business. We are putting forth an open invitation for these many educationally concerned individuals to join us in creating a vision for the 21st Century School.
At the moment we have a wonderful pre-K to grade 8 school, so this gathering is in no way seeking to replace our school, but rather enhancing our educational standards to meet future needs.
Our hope is to seek out the wisdom of our citizens and hopefully elicit a paradigm shift to better the chances of our children being all they can be. Invitations have already been forwarded to our parents, our teachers, and other individuals who have already demonstrated interest in education.
Interested personages in joining this conference are encouraged to call the school at 677-2678. There will be complimentary light fare served, so the number of attendees is essential for the 1812 Farm staff.
