To the Editor:
Seems the stimulus bill package includes monies for those $40 coupons to purchase digital television conversion boxers. If you read about these boxes, the words, “available from $40-60” is noted. In reality, they are not available here for $40 and the taxpayer ends up paying the $20 plus out of pocket.
Unfortunately, many are finding these converter boxes not just frustrating but useless. A suggestion: return them for a refund and let the manufacturers give the $40 of coupons back to the government. Thus more money for coupons, and if there are enough returned, maybe those who mandated digital TV will see the mess they have created.
