We have numerous “first days” of the summer season; there is the first summer-like day; there is Memorial Day, the unofficial first day of summer and now, with June 21 in the rear view mirror, the actual first day of summer.
Not that long ago, it seems, our summer calendar consisted of a few events – an ice cream social or two, a strawberry festival, the Round Pond parade and Olde Bristol Days.
These days, it seems there is something every single weekend between now and November.
There are enough festivals, fairs, and fundraisers galore to keep even our most jaded year ’round residents entertained. For our summer visitors, our event-heavy calendar offers plenty of opportunities to take in a good dose of small town charm.
Soon, all too soon, the season will change, our visitors will depart and we will be left more or less to our own devices, but for now this is the opportunity to get out and about and sample all the county has to offer.
Break out the sunscreen. It’s party time.
