To the Editor:
Wow, what a storm (Jan. 13)! With weather like this, I am glad that I live and work where I do.
As I am just getting through covering an accident on Rt. 27 involving a car going into the other lane and hitting a loaded cement truck head on, I am so glad that the volunteers on the Ambulance and Fire Departments came out to help.
There was zero visibility as I was driving and it was nice to hear the ambulance crew and the fire department coming to give assistance. While I was there, one of the Fire Department members plowed areas on several occasions so that the wrecker operators were able to take care of the damaged vehicles. They directed traffic in that weather for two hours.
When I came back to the station, some of them were out snow blowing around the municipal back parking lot so that people could move their vehicles.
I feel that we should all be proud of the volunteer men and women we have. Where would we be without them?
