To the Editor:
We citizens of Wiscasset have tried the town manager form of government for half a decade.
As a taxpayer, I think we voters should go back to a three person select board comprised of people who comprehend the particulars of an historical coastal town intersected by major arterial routes.
The most significant considered deficiency by the present town manager is the allowed devastation of the Powder House access area whose road boundary is reserved by deed per book 83, page 110, backside of June 9, 1813.
Interpretations of a deeded right of way is also stipulated by a decision from the Maine Supreme Court in June 5, 1997, won by Mr. Ervin Snyder, partner of Mr. Dennis Jumper, attorneys at law.
The Powder House was erected to furnish black powder to Fort Edgecomb against the British Navy. We had declared war against Britain on June 12, 1812 for impressing American servicemen, interference with legitimate trade and intrigues with the western Indians.
Let us revert to a board that reads, comprehends, and decides in the town’s interest in lieu of processing managed information.
