To the Editor:
It is interesting that last week Max Arnold’s letter was calling for “new blood” in Augusta. He then endorses a member of the party that has controlled Augusta and Maine for four decades for State Representative.
Arnold seems to miss the whole point. State Rep. Jonathan McKane is the new blood we need. Rep. McKane represents the new breed of elected representatives that listen to the people who elected them and work hard to do the job they were elected to do.
We have never had a state representative who is as communicative or accessible as Rep. McKane. Do you want to talk to him? He is in Damariscotta almost daily. He sends out weekly email updates with contact information in them, and his updates are also in the newspaper every week with contact info. If you email or call him, he gets back to you. At least once a year, he sends out a questionnaire asking for your opinions on issues coming up in the next session of the legislature.
Consider this, Rep McKane has never missed a vote during the past two years of the 124th legislature – he is always in his seat making the tough decisions.
New blood in Augusta? I could not agree more. Let’s move away from the party of the political elite that has controlled Maine politics for decades.
We’ve got that “new blood” in Jonathan McKane.
