To the Editor:
This is an open letter to the citizens of Alna. The reason for this letter is to introduce myself and tell you I am running for the Third Selectmen’s position in our town.
Cindy Marston became my wife in August of 1972; we lived in Gardiner for 30 years. We raised two daughters, Leann and Tammy, who have since given us six grandsons and four step-grandsons.
I took Adult Ed classes at night to get my high school diploma, and then did a year of Computer Science at UMA.
I am a self-employed carpenter, but I also work with Michael Trask, when he needs extra help.
Cindy and I decided it was time to move back to my hometown. We have lived on the Crossroads going on six years. I joined the Alna Fire Department and am also a Master Mason at the Lincoln Lodge #3 in Wiscasset.
I was asked to take over as the interim town clerk during a rather hard time. I stepped in and I did the best I could to help out. I wanted to be there for folks; I know I wouldn’t want to run all over the place to get my town business done.
The town put me through classes in Augusta so that I would be certified in the following positions: Automobile Registrations, Vital Static’s, Elections and Tax Collector. I believe going to these classes will help me to be able to answer most questions dealing with folks; also give me insight to being the General Assistance person for the town. I can also be the backup person if the clerk and deputy are not available at the same time for any reason.
I like working with the people in town and I hope to meet some of you that I haven’t met at the town office; I’m helping to get the town reports out to you the old fashion way, door to door.
I hope to see you at town meeting and appreciate your support at the polls.
Sincerely,
David Seigars, Alna
