To the Editor:
Susan Collins, a 12 year veteran of the U.S. Senate, has served Maine exceptionally well. One of her outstanding achievements is a 100 percent voting record over her time in office. Her opponent can’t begin to come close to that.
She has been a staunch supporter of BIW, Maine’s largest employer. Her most recent achievement has been the reinstatement of funds in the forthcoming budget for the new cruiser program of which BIW would receive two ships.
Collins implemented the major recommendations of the Terrorism Prevention and Inelegance Reform Act of 2004.
She was a major shaker and mover in many areas including Chemical Security, FEMA Reform, Postal Reform, Teacher Tax Reduction, and State Relief to help states deal with budget short falls ($116 million for Maine). She has helped increase funds for home heating assistance for LHEAP.
She has received recognition from Veterans Organizations, Alzheimer’s Assoc, National School Board Assoc, and The American Shipbuilding Association. The American Association of Port Authorities named her “Port Person of the Year” for her work in securing the nations harbors.
She ranks among the top five most popular Senators in the U.S. Senate.
Oprah Magazine lists her as a woman who could become President.
Her opponent makes many claims and accusations, however his record in the House doesn’t support his promotional dreams.
So join with me in reelecting Susan Collins as the Senator from Maine to the U.S. Senate.
