To the Editor:
Recently, I listened to an out of state pastor relate his troubles in getting his church built “according to code” for his district.
While he did so, a thought occurred to me that seems highly practical and trouble-free: consolidation.
For instance, within our immediate area from South Bristol, and Bremen to Wiscasset, I counted no less than 15 Christian churches listed in the Lincoln County Yellow Pages.
Each building is used by a small number of people, mostly on Sundays for worship.
Wouldn’t it be a good idea to share only a few churches, combine payments of expenses, and contribute any extras to helping the many less fortunate of our brethren?
These are hard times for all.
