To the Editor:
For what it’s worth here are my thoughts on the Wiscasset bypass; forget the bypass and do these simple solutions:
1.) Stop ALL on street parking in Wiscasset.
2.) There is a ranch house on a large lot for sale just past the old jail on Rt. 218. Buy it and turn it into a parking lot.
3.) Begin a summer shuttle bus service from the new parking area into town, similar to what Boothbay Harbor has.
4.) Stop all cross traffic turns and reroute drivers to the side streets.
5.) Build pedestrian overpass walkways at both ends of town, one being ADA compliant.
It seems to me that this would cost a lot less than a bypass and solve the majority of the problems.
