To the Editor:
The generosity extended to the Lincoln Academy Class of 2012 is remarkable. On Monday evening, dozens of scholarships were handed out to a range of graduating seniors, as well as some former graduates that are continuing their education.
Particularly moving are the scholarships set up in remembrance of a loved one who has passed on. Taking something tragic, such a life that was cut too short, and honoring their time on this earth by giving to others, often strangers, is an act of beauty.
Service clubs work all year meeting and fundraising. Sometimes, those of us on the outside forget, or are unaware of, the tireless efforts that go into to extending a helping hand to others. Again, they are helping young people they may not even know personally, and the gift may be of no particular benefit to the organization.
Thank you to all of the individuals, families, and organizations who recognized the achievements and potential of the Lincoln Academy Class of 2012.
