To the Editor:
Let me see if I have this right: the Bowdoin Christian Fellowship was told by Bowdoin’s Administration the group could no longer meet on campus because it has not adhered to the college’s “non-discrimination policy.”
Therefore the Christian Fellowship moved off-campus into its own building.
Case closed? I gather not.
Apparently the newly named Joseph and Alice McKeen Christian Study Center LLC leaders have not played the game. They solved their delimma too soon and easily for Bowdoin College’s likes.
The new fellowship has not asked for funding or facilites from the college. It is happy to continue its affiliation with the InterVarsity Christian Fellowship.
What really “fries The Orient’s (student newspaper) butt” is that having no affiliation with Bowdoin College the Joseph and Alice McKeen Christian Study Center can call its own shots and can have anyone they please in leadership roles!
The Bowdoin Orient can continue its hissy-fit over that, but needs to face facts: more people in this country do not accept the LGBTQ agenda than those who do.
Beyond that, keep your hands off autonomous groups!
