Even as we put this paper to bed, the snowplows, snow-shovelers and snow-blowers are still out there, cleaning up the last vestiges of what we hope to be the last major snow storm of 2013.
Yes, we’ll admit; we helped a little with the collective groan Maine seemed to offer with the arrival of this latest dusting.
We like snow. Perversely, the bigger the storm, the more we like it, although timing really is everything. We are of the opinion that some of the best features of the state are the different flavors of the year our beautiful home has to offer.
This recent spate of 40-degree weather we have been enjoying is nice, but it is also the perfect setup for a legendary Nor’easter to catch us off guard. We are not so naïve to think that it can’t happen…again.
We would be remiss however if we did not say good-bye to winter with a tip of the cap to the snowplow drivers, both private and public, the custodians and the good Samaritans who work together to keep the roads and walkways clear.
Won’t be long now until it mud season. Then come the blessed time of rebirth and peace and quiet before our friends from away get here.
Let’s go. We’re ready for spring.
