Thank you to all who came to the Lincoln Theater to enjoy the rebroadcast of the “Audience” starring Helen Mirren. At the start there were some technical issues but due to our able staff, the 2 p.m. movie was restarted at 2:10 p.m. and the production played out with excellent quality ’til the end.
For those who are curious as to what occurred, our technician explained that the recording was tested twice prior to the broadcast and as many of us have experienced with digital signals at home, sometimes things don’t work perfectly.
Further he explained, “An external hard drive is attached to the receiver. What can happen is the video and audio don’t synch correctly and either you see dropped frames or audio while the receiver tries to correct. The Metropolitan Opera and National Theater requires us to have backup equipment and while on live events both are running, for a rebroadcast/encore events we use one or the other. I switched to the backup and restarted the show.”
What we did learn from this experience was that we need to inform our patrons right away that we are aware and attempting to correct the problem. I thank all of you for your patience and look forward to seeing you again soon at the Lincoln Theater.
