To the Editor:
I would like to write a letter of thanks to the Family Holiday Wishes program. I am a single mother of two and work full time, but I was out of work for three months around Christmas.
Times are difficult as they are for many families. Bills have to come first. I was embarrassed to ask for help. A dear friend of mine said “call them, your children deserve Christmas.”
I called. Family Holiday Wishes saved my children’s Christmas.
They were extremely organized and kind. I can say from experience. I’m not allowed to name names, but you know who you are. I worked with the Pirate Rendezvous this past summer, with the funds raised going toward this wonderful cause.
My children and I have experienced some difficult situations in the last couple of years, but have survived, thanks to people like this in our great town of Damariscotta. I will be there with bells on next year to volunteer.
