To the Editor:
We write to publicly express our utmost appreciation to the Emergency Room staff at Miles Hospital for their outstanding skills and care. When Joan awoke one morning this summer in serious distress, we hurried to the ER.
Jane Dunstan and the night nursing crew attended to her immediately, and Dr. James Li was quickly able to determine that a lead on her recently installed pacemaker had become disconnected. The entire ER team and ambulance crew were fast, skillful, compassionate, and reassuring. Joan was stabilized and quickly transferred by ambulance to the Maine Medical Center, where the faulty connection was restored. She is recovering well, and we will be forever grateful.
As summer residents of Bremen for 10 years, we find it very reassuring to know that the standard of medical care available to residents of Lincoln County is so high. We particularly thank Dr. Li and Ms. Dunstan; the community is fortunate to have people with such ability and humanity.
