To the Editor:
Often our local K-8 school is referred to as “Great Salt Bay” or “GSB”. The official name is Great Salt Bay Community School. Shortening the name, as we all do, omits the word “community.”
Throughout the history of the school, the community has been a huge part of the school and this last year was no exception. The whole community rallied together to build our children an amazing, creative and safe playground.
Through the vision and tireless leadership of Kristie Houghton, this playground was completed on Sunday. Thank you to the many generous volunteers, donors, organizers and business sponsors who remembered the “Community” in “Great Salt Bay Community School.”
Without all of you, our school wouldn’t be “Great!” Please join us at the ribbon cutting ceremony Sept. 6 at 2 p.m. Thank you all for your continued support in educating our children.
