To the editor:
I have quit watching the Patriots football team. I was a great fan of theirs. I haven’t watched them since I saw them taking a knee when the national anthem was played.
I was in World War II and I remember the blood of sailors pooling on the deck. They were fighting for America and the freedoms we enjoy. These include the freedom to play football for big money. These football players have the freedom to do anything they want to do, but I have the freedom to never watch them and so does everybody else. Our sailors and soldiers who didn’t have any say, but who gave all for our country, deserve our respect.
I think the name Patriots is a misnomer for this team. They are anything but! At least they should change the name!
I’ve taken a knee on the so-called Patriots.
