To the Editor:
As a former Trustee of the Waldoboro Public Library, I wish to thank you for your excellent article in last week’s The Lincoln County News. All of us are very proud of our new library and the ever increasing use of this building.
To the people of Waldoboro I give great thanks for a venture taken on faith almost 10 years ago.
Our library staff work hard to provide materials and programs to interest a wide range of individuals: story hours for children, a variety of video tapes and DVD’s, reference books, large print books, audio books, popular magazines, local and state newspapers and, of course, computers.
Your readers may not know that the library is equipped with Wi-Fi, which means you can bring your own laptop computer and use it inside the library. If the library is closed, you can still connect to the Internet outside in the parking lot.
As more people are cutting back in this economic downturn, it is even more imperative that Waldoboro citizens and our Town Selectmen continue their support of our library.
Mark Twain said “…a town without a library has no soul.” Thanks to many, both past, present and future, I am sure the soul of Waldoboro will be with us for many generations to come.
