To the Editor:
As co-producer of the Damariscotta Pirate Rendezvous, I would like to thank everyone who participated in any way to make the day such a success!
Without any real way to count, we believe we had more people attending than last year; and we certainly will have more smiling faces in December when the proceeds are put to work through Lincoln County Family Holiday Wishes.
I want to let the community know that the young people of the area saved the day this year – “children” from elementary school through college volunteered their time in many ways to enable the Rendezvous to go on.
We were short on adult volunteers, but between young and older musicians, kids managing games and doubloon sales, and a wonderful group of Sea Scouts from the Bath area, who ran games, attended street crossings and performed, as well as some strong young men from Lincoln Academy helping with tables, we pulled it off!
I do not want to discount the fantastic adult volunteers that we had, I just want to let the community know that the Midcoast area is full of talented, giving young people. They’ve had good examples set for them and they in turn are setting an example for others.
Thank you one and all for making the third annual Pirate Rendezvous a success.
