To the editor:
On Saturday I wrote a letter to the governor.
I told him that the recording of his threatening phone message to Rep. Drew Gattine sounded like the voice of a man unable to control his anger.
Certainly, it was not the voice of someone fit to lead the beautiful state we love.
A governor must understand history but work for the future. Unfortunately, Gov. LePage can’t see beyond his own past. Due to his personal prejudices, time and again he has made decisions that hurt the people of Maine.
Now, by leaving a profane, violent phone message, Paul LePage demonstrated once again that his inability to control his emotions renders him unfit to be our governor. His bullying attitude damages Maine’s economy by scaring away potential employers and much-needed workers. We, the citizens of Maine, are shamed by being linked to his intolerance. And what lesson is he teaching our young people about the nature of leadership?
Gov. LePage once vowed he would resign if people wanted him to. Thousands of people have called for his resignation. I urge him to be true to his word: governor, resign.
