To the Editor:
It was with great interest that I read the three introductory paragraphs in the Damariscotta Police report in last week’s edition. My first thought was, “who complained?” and my second was, “why do they feel they have to defend themselves?”
No complaints from Romeo’s Pizza about the investigation after our break-in in mid-January. Officer [Jennifer] Mitkus worked tirelessly in those first few weeks on the case, kept me involved in any information that became available, and I was very impressed with her professionalism and dedication, as I told Chief Drake within a week of this event.
I have no doubt in my mind that this case will be solved, and it will be because of Officer Mitkus’ determined, dedicated, hard work.
Folks, this isn’t “CSI,” or “Law and Order;” this is real life. Solving crimes takes patience, lots of work, and lots of long hours. Anyone with common sense should know that.
Many thanks to the Damariscotta Police Department and Officer Mitkus for doing a great job for us. I’m just sorry they felt they had to defend their own hard work. They shouldn’t have to explain the obvious.
