To the Editor:
After visiting your charming village over the weekend I felt the urge to share.
Damariscotta, Maine, is one of the prettiest towns in Midcoast Maine. Once you exit Route 1, it is as if you stepped back in time.
The church view overlooking the water is a welcome site as you enter the village. The small art boutiques, and antique stores create an unique culture among the towns people. The local business owners are very friendly.
I always enjoy visiting Metcalf’s sandwich shop, and a trip to the local bookstore. This weekend I stumbled upon S. Fernald’s Country Store, for Sunday lunch. I commend the owners of this store for preserving its culture.
After lunch. I walked over the bridge, and observed jellyfish swimming in the river. I was amazed, as were other tourists. This was not my only aqua wildlife. While kayaking in the river, there were multiple harbor seals sun bathing on a rock. I did not approach them, but was able to see them entering the sea. Oh, and I must add your fireworks were wonderful!
Thank you again for such a delightful place to visit.
