To the Editor:
I enjoyed the nice photo of the Bohemian Waxwings in the Jan. 15 issue. I would like to amend the text, however. It’s true that their breeding range is more westerly, but they do come to Maine regularly, even if we don’t see them as often as chickadees.
Large flocks, up to 200, are reported every year. I’ve seen 100 plus in my backyard on Glidden St., the same number on Main St. opposite First Federal Bank, and I get reports from other local places at least once a year. So they are not really “out of place in Lincoln County.” They just need watchful eyes like those of your photographer.
