To the Editor:
I just learned that the most recent graduating class of law enforcement officers from the Maine Criminal Justice Academy purchased and donated toys for underprivileged children rather than celebrate in a more traditional manner with a party.
That class included officer Jason Warlick of the Damariscotta Police Department.
Their action was a wonderful example of the collective character of the 60 policemen and policewomen who comprised the graduating class, and a manifestation of the highest traditions of public service. As a former law enforcement officer, I’m proud of Officer Warlick and every member of the class of which he was a part.
These men and woman will be positive additions to the Maine police and sheriffs departments in which they will serve. Well done and congratulations to Officer Warlick and his colleagues.
