To the Editor:
Much has been written lately about same sex marriage and I would like to strive to establish the bottom line of absolute truth. “In the beginning God created…” This gives our Almighty Sovereign God the right and authority to make the rules.
Our rights do not come from man, the government or even the Constitution. The Constitution merely verifies that our rights are God-given and therefore, inalienable. These rights are not particular to America, the Greatest Nation Ever, but have been for all men in all nations down though all time.
Does man have the right to be homosexual? Not according to God’s rule book, the Bible.
The very first rule God established for man was to leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife and procreate. This union, between a man and a woman, has been the foundation for the family and by extension society since the dawn of time. If homosexuality is acceptable to the Rule Giver, then why did he not make a provision for it in the rule book? No provision in the rules; no such thing, as no need for same sex marriage. Every society that has broken this rule has deteriorated and crumbled.
Even if one rejects the validity of Scripture, our society would do well to remember two other very important points.
The Founding Fathers never intended a scant three percent of the people, the best statistic available for American’s homosexual population, to overrule the 97 percent. This is not democracy at work.
Whereas this is a Maine referendum question, it is a Maine issue. As a Mainer, I resent the fact people from outside Maine are coming into my state with an estimated $5 million dollars to purchase favors and advertising to promote a lifestyle that is extremely detrimental to all Maine families.
Would you please join me in voting what is best for all Maine families? Vote No on 1.
